2700 And Counting

Two and a half years ago, I wrote about this topic. It was prompted by reading in Daniel. Today it was Hosea. I was hit with the same thought, from about 200 or so years earlier. Our society hasn’t gotten any better, nor have we heeded any of God’s warnings. So all I can conclude is that we’re that much closer to God’s judgment.

Hosea doesn’t pull any punches.

I’m quoting from the fourth chapter verses one to three: “For the Lord has a case against the inhabitants of the land. Because there is no faithfulness or kindness or knowledge of God in the land. There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing, and adultery. They employ violence so that bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns and everyone who lives in it languishes.”

I only had a general understanding of the word languish; I looked it up: “1. To become feeble, weak or enervated (lacking physical, mental, or moral vigor); 2. to be or live in a state of depression or decreasing vitality.” Ring any bells? For 13 chapters, Hosea lays out God’s punishment of Israel. Then in chapter 14, He tells them [If they] “Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God” [then] “I will heal their apostasy, I will love them freely, for My anger has turned away from them.”

What will it take for God’s anger to turn away from America?

Is it even possible, or have we gone too far down the slippery slope? How patient do you think God is? America used to be known as a “Christian country.” If you recall your history, we were founded on the basis of Christian freedom. Not so much today. And, sadly, even many churches have moved away from Biblical principles to “be tolerant” and welcome all forms of aberrant sin. I’m not saying we shouldn’t welcome people beset with these sins into our fellowship, but we must be clear, we cannot allow the sin to go unaddressed.

My friends, judgment is coming. Maybe soon. Maybe not. Can you afford to gamble by not being ready for Christ’s return? A wrong answer will cost you for eternity. See Steps To Salvation in the Appendix for God’s answer to your sin problem. Thanks for reading.
