No Condemnation
The world judges us for all kinds of real or perceived flaws, failures, and fall-shorts. But God says NOT GUILTY. Who ya gonna believe? Romans 8:1 says as plain as can be, “Therefore there is NOW NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
One side piles guilt,
tension, self-loathing. The other gives peace that surpasses all comprehension by those who don’t meet the only criterion for it (Phil. 4:7). One would have us serve a life sentence of darkness, doom, and gloom. The other, freedom, hope, promise…NOW, TODAY.
It seems like a no-brainer. But most choose the dark side because they won’t submit to one simple requirement. In our last post, we proposed that “Simple is Better.” This is another example of that premise.
The one qualifier to experience this promise,
even though it’s priceless, cannot be bought with any amount of money. It can’t be earned with any amount of good deeds. It’s the simple, childlike act of recognizing that our sin has separated us from a loving God who offers all the above good things and so much more to everyone who turns from their sin and believes that Jesus Christ paid the entry fee to heaven on their behalf.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the Bible, which is God’s inspired word, is never wrong. So when I read the words “no condemnation,” I’m all over it, knowing that I deserve to be condemned and wondering why I get a pass. Maybe because it’s too simple and we’re conditioned to think that you can’t get something for nothing. If that’s your thinking, you’re missing the key point. It’s not “nothing”. It cost Jesus everything to pay the price of death on a cross so that we don’t have to.
