Disease Or Cure?
“Nobody is concerned with a cure until they know they have the disease.” (unknown auth.) This applies to human behavior in general. We (most men) think we’re indestructible until something happens to open our eyes to the truth.
It did to me on a motorcycle. I had ridden off and on for over 40 years with thousands of miles under my belt without an accident. One Sunday after church, I was heading to meet a couple riding buddies for a quick ride to a little mountain town for lunch. Out of nowhere a women took an illegal left turn across my lane of travel and I laid it down. Double compound fracture and mild concussion. Two and a half years later, I was almost back to normal.
No longer do I think,
“It can’t happen to me.” I’ve also buried two children. Never thought that would happen either, once let alone twice. So I speak from experience when I blow the whistle of warning that I believe God is getting ready to act on a worldwide scale. And you need to be ready.
The disease I’m referring to is sin. [Technically it’s not a disease, it’s a choice.] We all have it. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Rom. 3:23). It goes on three chapters later, “For the wages of sin is death…” (Rom. 6:23). Is there any other disease you can think of that has a 100% fatality rate?
Here’s where the road divides.
Many will resist this simple truth that we are all sick with sin. They will justify their sin by labeling it something else that sounds nicer. Their rejection is based on believing lies from the enemy of our souls, Satan. He whispers things like, “A God who loves you as much as He claims, wouldn’t limit your ability to have fun, would He?” Or something like, “There’s no hurry, you can deal with this tomorrow or next week. Work on your bucket list while you’re young.”
How many of you know for certain the date and time of your death? The Bible is clear on this point too, “…and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” (Psa. 139:16) [This truth is one thing that allowed my wife and me to survive the death of our two kids.] And, “It is appointed to man to die once and then comes the judgment” (Heb. 9:27). It’s this issue I want to talk about with you. Are you ready to be judged? Our judge is perfect in His verdicts. He set the standards in the beginning of life on earth. Adam and Eve had it all and yet were tempted to go outside of God’s plan for them and eat of the one tree that was forbidden. Sin entered the world because of their disobedience.
Satan’s success rate is high
in getting people to shun God’s will and ways and instead follow their own lusts. It’s been a winning strategy since time began so why should he change it?
I want you to be ready when God calls, “everybody out of the pool.” At that moment, you’ll be whisked upward to meet Jesus in the air, or you’ll be left behind to endure the worst plagues and earthly disasters ever brought to judge sinners. I suggest you read this and then, while you still have time, get on your knees and repent (turn away from) of your sin.
The great news is that today
you do still have time. God loves you in spite of your warts; so much so that He allowed His Son, Jesus, to be tortured and killed instead of you. Let that sink in for a few minutes while you picture yourself nailed to a cross, stripped and beaten, waiting to die a painful death. That’s what Jesus did for you and me.
Don’t be one who falls prey to the devil’s lies when there is such a wonderful option in the other direction.
