Four Ls of The Word

(A follow up to the last 3 posts…)

 Listen To It

“How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? (Rom. 10:14) Most people come to Christ after a convicting time of hearing the Word. Many of them will hear it from a friend whose life is different than theirs; not without troubles, but filled with peace and obviously something they don’t have. Make sure your gospel seeds are always ready to sow.

Love It

“Oh how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” (Ps. 119:97) When we were kids, much of our learning was chosen by someone else, parents, teachers, etc. But as adults, we choose to embrace our interests. That’s why loving God’s word is a prerequisite to learning it.

Learn It

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15) “Be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.” (2Tim. 4:2) As God’s children, we are expected to share the circumstances of our salvation to other “seekers,” friends who have seen it in action in our lives.

Live By It

“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” (Ps. 1:1-3) This section of Scripture is the key to making Jesus attractive to others in our sphere of influence. But God gives us more motivation for adopting this path: “Moreover, by them (God’s rules) Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.” (Ps. 19:11)  May God bless your enthusiasm for His word.
