It’s Obvious

In our last post, we introduced the topic of deconstruction. Since it is becoming so rampant in the church today and many in the church seem to be taken in by the charlatans pitching their wares, I felt a follow-up was needed. This morning in my Bible time, I came to the letters of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John. Have you ever experienced in your daily reading that God takes you right to the topic you’ve been noodling? It happened to me today.

Our last post started with the line, “Truth is our friend.” Today, John addresses it: “By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar and the truth is not in him” (1Jn. 2:3,4). And in the next chapter, “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God” (1Jn. 3:10).

I love how the Bible doesn’t pull any punches.

After reading John’s words, there is no doubt how God feels about deconstructionists spreading a false gospel in His church. Now my only question is, “What are we going to do about it?”

In management courses on problem solving, the first step is to identify the problem. We’ve done that. Did you ever notice that when God wanted something done, He never appointed a committee? Think about all the times one man was the solution. There was Abraham, Moses, Jonah, Noah, Joseph, Paul and others. Could you be the solution in your church?

I think the most important way

for churches to prepare the saints for war is to continue their emphasis on teaching the word week in and week out. Jesus said, “ If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (Jn. 8:31,32). Our enemy would have us enslaved to his lies because his goal is to “steal, kill and destroy” (Jn. 10:10). But Jesus came “that [we] may have life, and have it abundantly.” Knowing the truth of God’s word, arms us for battle with the devil’s schemes, in whatever fancy package they appear.

If your church offers some form of apologetics training, I strongly urge you to enroll and suggest that this be one of the topics with high priority. If they don’t, well, you might be God’s man at this time for this purpose.
