Christ in Men…Today

Sharpening My Sword Discussion Guide

(Editor’s note: Sharpening My Sword is now included in Christ in Men…Today)

The Bible says,

“…but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” (Rom. 5:20). We live in a sin-sick society. Biblical standards of righteousness and morality are just specks in the rearview mirror. But in the middle of all this, there is reason for great hope. God has not left us to fend for ourselves. We have His Word, and we have the Holy Spirit to teach us, lead us, and comfort us. With all the confusion and uncertainty around us, we have the ONLY true source of hope, the ROCK that cannot be shaken, moved or crushed: The Lord Jesus Christ, on whom our hope rests securely.

Christ in Men…Today

was written primarily to encourage men who want to be ready; ready to combat the evil thrown at us; ready to share the reason for the hope within us; ready to meet our Savior face-to-face. The building up of our spiritual muscles is the goal of this book and discussion guide. It’s not going to be easy. You will be forced to think, to cut deep, to search Scripture for truth that we can build our lives on. But it will be worth it. Your light will shine brighter. Your step will be surer. And you can expect to hear, “Well done” when we get home.

This discussion guide

is a companion to the book Christ in Men…Today. It was primarily designed to be used in a group study setting in which discussion of the questions and answers can help men in their walk with Christ (one man sharpening another). But it can easily be used for individual study as well.

Each lesson covers

one week’s worth of a single character quality with questions designed for a deeper slice into Scripture as well as suggestions for personal application. The weeks don’t have to be studied sequentially.  Many (not all) of the answers are contained within the week’s writings.

I encourage you

to make a commitment before you begin the first lesson. Commit to doing what it takes to finish strong. You are the one who will benefit most, but so will your wife, your family, and your co-workers. To God be the glory; great things He has done.
