Be Ready

Did your parents ever ask you, “Are you ready for…(fill in the blank)?” The blank could be anything. For example, “your algebra test”, “graduation”, “your job interview”? You get the point. These samples share one thing; you know the date for all of them. There is one “fill in the blank” that we’re sure will happen. We just don’t know when. The return of Jesus Christ for His church was promised over 2,000 years ago. That’s a long time to anticipate something. There’s a high likelihood that we’ve grown ambivalent in our waiting.

had never seen rain. So they had no idea why Noah would be building a big boat. And their debauchery, which was bad enough for God to destroy every living thing, people and animals included, except for Noah and his family, had blinded them to Noah’s warning (for over 100 years) that God was planning to eradicate them.

Why is it that we believe every TikTok,

podcast, and other social media bunk, but think the Bible is filled with fairy tales? How could the earth really be created in six days, when we all “know” it’s billions of years old? How could the earth be flooded with water five and a half miles deep, covering even the highest peak, Mt. Everest? How could the world be destroyed by fire? Oh wait. That hasn’t happened…yet. Remember, it hadn’t rained yet when Noah built the ark.

I have often referred to the fact that someday Jesus Christ will return in His Glory and remove those trouble-making Christians from earth so the rest of the population can do whatever they want without restraint. The only problem is that like all the other social media group-think alive and well on planet earth, this thinking will be very short-lived. Because the Christians are not the problem, we are actually the solution. But as in Noah’s day, many, if not most, people will pooh pooh our message that destruction is coming.

And it is coming.
