Right Or Wrong

What if Scripture is true? Are you willing to gamble your eternity on it? I know there may be those reading this who don’t believe in a personal God who is involved in our lives, an afterlife, or a day of reckoning. What if you’re wrong? Humor me.

Have you ever encountered a sign

that warned of a bridge out ahead? Or high voltage? Or non-potable water in a public sprinkling system? Did you disregard any such warnings? Why not? Have you ever considered the motive behind these types of signs?

The Bible is filled with warnings

from a God who CANNOT lie (Tit. 1:2), whose only motive is love. In our last post (Two Laws…) we were presented with a choice between death on one hand and life and peace on the other. What if God didn’t care and never told us the consequences of making wrong choices? You’d feel it wasn’t fair, wouldn’t you? But because He loves us, not only does He tell us detailed consequences multiple times, but He also gives us time to consider, to weigh the options…until He doesn’t.

He never forces us into a decision,

but there is a limit that can be reached by repeated rejection of His warnings…or death. Again, the Bible is very clear, “It is appointed for men to die once and after this, the judgment” (Heb. 9:27). No do-overs. No reincarnation, just judgment. If you’re thinking that you’ll take your chances because you’ve led a good life, haven’t cheated on your wife, stolen, murdered anybody, given to worthy causes, the Bible says you’re a fool.

“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Ps. 53:1)

“All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment.” (Isa. 64:6)

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6)

If you’ve read this far, that’s good.

You either already know Jesus and like the encouragement, or you’re looking for answers because the God of the Bible is drawing you into a relationship with Him. If you’re one of the latter, you’ll find a step-by-step outline in Steps To Salvation  elsewhere on this site. Thanks for humoring me.
