The Big Lie

Joe Biden isn’t “The Father of Lies,”

neither is Chuck Schumer. But has it occurred to you that in our society, lying is ubiquitous? It has gotten to the point of incredulity. Some are so blatantly false, yet repeatedly told with straight faces. It seems proof or scientific evidence to the contrary that pokes holes in the lie just isn’t enough.

I just finished a 2008 novel by David Baldacci, The Whole Truth, in which (at the time) a relatively new business was flourishing; the business is PM or Perception Management. It’s built on the concept that we can create truth to serve our purpose. And with a lazy and gullible population, fed by a lazy and partisan media, the bigger the lie, the more unbelievable, the more likely it’ll go down without water.

The statement, “If a lie is big enough and told often enough, people will believe it” doesn’t have an authenticated source. However, one only has to look at today’s political dialog to see it in action and become confused by competing claims, especially about all the “science” behind masking up. You have to ask yourself, “What’s the endgame and who benefits?”

I bore you with all this to set the stage to make my point. There IS a father of lies; his name is Satan (John 8:44). Why does he lie? Aside from the fact that it’s his nature and he can’t help it, he does it because he hates Jesus Christ and by extension, His followers. But there is one source of truth that is never wrong, never leads astray, and paints an amazing picture of hope—The Bible. Satan will try to convince you that the path to hell is labeled “heaven” and is filled with all the shiny objects one could want. Don’t fall for it. The true path to heaven is clearly labeled “Jesus.”

The acid test of a prophet

is they have to be 100% correct 100% of the time. The penalty for missing the mark? Death. EVERY Old Testament prophet of God met the standard. How do we know? Because their prophecies were fulfilled to the letter. The ones that weren’t have future dates on them. So why do I mention that? To add credibility, assurance, and hope. If God’s Word written by His prophets NEVER missed the mark—and there were hundreds of prophetic events—then it’s a safe bet that those describing the future won’t either. I use the word “describing” rather than “predicting” because to God who lives in eternity, the events have already happened (Isa. 46:10).

We are living in a time when some of the unfulfilled prophecies are coming true. So what? you ask. Only that our world has an expiration date which could be closer than we think. When that happens, those of us who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, will be snatched (raptured) from this planet to begin eternity in heaven with God our Father and His Son Jesus. Those who don’t know Him, will be left behind to endure seven years of worldwide chaos—the Bible calls it The Tribulation—after which all will be judged and found guilty. Hell awaits.
