Turn on the Light

Little kids are often afraid of the dark and some never outgrow it. Most homes have some form of nightlight to combat the dark. The boogeyman checks under his bed for Chuck Norris and at camp, we sit around the campfire telling spooky stories…just before bedtime. Nyctophobia is fairly common—a severe fear of the dark—and with good cause. Bad things happen in the dark.

There is a category of people that are not afraid of the dark: “…and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.” (John 3:19,20) During the runup to our recent presidential election, we heard a lot about transparency in government. Based on the verse above, that’s not likely to happen. The good news is that deliverance for us individually, as a nation, and even the entire world is NOT from any form of government but ONLY through our Lord Jesus Christ.

For those who have nothing to hide,

transparency is a good thing. As Jesus was about to be introduced to Nathaniel, He said, “an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit.” (John 1:47) What did He mean? Simply that Nathaniel’s bluntness was an indication he had no deceptive motives.

When children are little and afraid of the dark, parents often leave a dim light burning in the room. As people heading for one of two eternal destinations, we need the Light (capital L) of the world to escape permanent darkness. Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in the darkness.” (John 8:12)

Tired of living in the darkness of sin?

There’s only one way out. It’s time to turn on the light, to come to the Light. Jesus said, “the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.” (John 6:37) Morality is spinning out of control and on a slippery slope, in danger of disappearing from society. Lawlessness is rampant. The “me” generation has exploded on the scene with destruction in their path.

Time is running out.

Choose Christ while you still have breath. Contrary to what some religions teach, there is no second chance. The Bible says, “It is appointed for men to die once, and after this comes judgment.” (Heb. 9:27) If this strikes a chord in you and you’d like to know more, visit our Steps to Salvation page. Do it now. The devil’s biggest lie is, “there’s always tomorrow.” Not true. Each of us has an expiration date assigned by God the Creator before we were born. (Ps. 139:16) Stay in the dark and you’re bound to stumble over something.
